Gelatinised Maca does not contain gelatin and is still vegan. Gelatinisation is a gentle heat process that breaks down the starches and fibres to allow easier digestion for sensitive tummies and better absorption. Our certified organic maca is hand harvested and dried at the source ensuring nutrients and freshness are uncompromised. It's a blend of yellow, red and black maca varieties. Good for you, good for the planet Maca is known as an adaptogen. Adaptogens work in synergy with the body by providing overall nutritional support to help you ‘adapt’ during times of stress and fatigue. GMO free, organic, fair trade and ethically sourced from Peru, maca contains beneficial phytonutrients, amino acids and antioxidants. Creating economic opportunities in an otherwise unproductive land, our Fair Trade maca provides positive outcomes for small-scale Peruvian farmers through economic and social empowerment.
Maca is a heart shaped root vegetable from the brassicaceae family (also includes broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage) that looks like a turnip but grows like a sweet potato. Our maca is authentic Peruvian maca - the birthplace of maca and still where the finest quality maca grows. The best maca grows at high altitude in the central Andes where it survives unforgiving conditions such as rocky soils, icy temperatures, strong winds and extreme sunlight. This harsh habitat is what makes maca thrive and produces the most potent maca with the most nutritional benefits. The maca roots are hand harvested and sundried then gently ground into a fine powder. They are shipped to us for packing in a temperature controlled environment to preserve freshness.
Our Maca supplier is Fair Trade certified ensuring that our farmer partners and their families are supported.
Enjoy the sweet and malty taste of maca mixed into your daily smoothie, hot drink, yoghurt, cereal or juice. Gelatinised Maca Powder can also be added to pancakes, healthy baking and raw treats for a delicious nutrient boost.
Native to the Central Andes in Peru, maca is frost and disease resistant, thriving in harsh environmental conditions where little else grows. Cherished as food and medicine for thousands of years, maca was consumed for energy and vitality as well as fertility and libido and was even taken by Incan warriors prior to battle for strength and endurance.
